In many daily conversations, 很 acts as an auxiliary verb without necessary implications of "very". For examples:
- 我很开心 (wǒ hěn kāi xīn) I am happy
- 我很生气 (wǒ hěn shēng qì) I am angry
- 他很帅 (tā hěn shuài) He is handsome
- 她很漂亮 (tā hěn piào liàng) She is pretty
真的 would usually be added as some sort of validation to "very" to imply that the statement is "for real", reference 10.15 真
- 我真的很开心 (wǒ zhēn de hěn kāi xīn) I am very happy Literal. I really very happy
- 我真的很生气 (wǒ zhēn de hěn shēng qì) I am very angry Literal. I really very angry
- 他真的很帅 (tā zhēn de hěn shuài) He is very handsome Literal. He really very handsome
- 她真的很漂亮 (tā zhēn de hěn piào liàng) She is very pretty Literal. She really very pretty
Note that this is just one of the many ways to express "very". Other ways include replacing 很 with 6.09 好, Unsually (非常) or Beyond (超).
