矣 yǐ

Added at the end of an expression to emphasize "already" or "altogether" in a poetic way

• 大事去矣 (dà shì qù yǐ) The best is over Literal. The big matter is gone already – circumstances will only deteriorate from this point on；
• 思过半矣 (sī guò bàn yǐ) Halfway there Literal. Think pass (beyond) half already
• 阅人多矣 (yuè rén duō yǐ) Highly experienced Literal. Experience people a lot altogether – having met enough people to tell if a person is good or bad
• 悔之晚矣 (huǐ zhī wǎn yǐ) Too late to repent Literal. Regret of late altogether
• 此生足矣 (cǐ shēng zú yǐ) Highly contented Literal. This life very sufficient altogether
