为 為
1. (wéi) Act (Accomplish) / According to
- 人为 (rén wéi) Human act
- 行为 (xíng wéi) Behaviour Literal. Move and act
- 认为 (rèn wéi) Forming an opinion of Literal. Acknowledge according to
- 为所欲为 (wéi sǔo yù wéi) Act according to one's heart desire Literal. According to the result of what one desire to act
2. (wèi) For / For the sake of
- 为何？(wèi hé) Why? Literal. For what (reason/purpose)? – similar to 为什么 (wèi shěn me)
- 为艺术 (wèi yì shù) For the sake of art
- 舍己为人 (shé jǐ wèi rén) Altruistic Literal. Abandon oneself for the sake of others
- 先为人后为己 (xiān wèi rén hòu wèi jǐ) Putting someone else's needs before one's Literal. First for people; then for oneself
