藕断丝连 (ǒu duàn sī lián) Undying romance *Literal. The lotus root may break but strands (fibers) remain attached* – lovers are separated but even so, their hearts stayed mutually attached. These days, it is often used to describe a person who has not found proper closure from a previous relationship.
