Territorial demarcation

+ A LITTLE MORE +

西域 (xī yù) Western Regions is an old term that refers to the westernmost part of China, around 300BC to 800AD. This mysterious pocket of space was surrounded by the old Persian Empire, Turpan, Tibet and Northern India. Foreign paths were crossed and elusive stories were told...... it was probably the most diverse part of the world with Buddhist pilgrims, Silk Road merchants and the people who stayed around to make a living. It was only after the Tang Dynasty and many centuries later did this piece of land become what is known as Xinjiang today.

Although the term "Western Regions" is seldom used in the modern age, "Western Regions Beauties (西域美女)" remains a popular term when making reference to the beautiful women of Xinjiang. These ladies often have a fair complexion and large enchanting eyes.
